There are some clients that will give you what they want to the last details, with as much as help as possible. But then there are others that will just leave it to you to figure it all out.
Working with a client who is not going to give all the details of what they expect to be done is a very risky thing to do. This is because such clients are problematic, they will most likely reject the work for one useless excuse or reason.
Honestly, I prefer the ones that give clear details, telling you exactly what they want because it saves time and there won't be any more confusion. It will help to deliver them something closer to their taste.
Those clients that leave everything for you to figure out makes the work more stressful.
In all the years I've been working as a freelancer and graphic designer, I haven't experienced any client who wouldn't give a clear info on what they what. This sounds alien to me.
That would be a very stupid client as far as I'm concerned. I wouldn't be at ease working with that kind of person because it's clearly obvious he's a troublesome one.
This is like having a client who doesn't know what they really want to do. If they seek my opinion on the job, I would glady give it but I won't be the one making any decision for them.
As long as the client is not going to have any problem paying me when I have completed the job the way I figured it out as he asked me to, I don't have any problem doing it.
