Once you have delivered a job to your clients, they can make use of it in a way that will portray them as the designer. This is rampant in cases when the work is outsourced.

This can get to some designers, if they see their work watermarked and claimed by others even if they got well paid for it.
This should be a deal between the parties involved. Both should agree at the start whether the designer will be given credit to or not.

Do you want credits for your work or you give out the full rights?

Well, I don't have any issues concerning what my clients use my designs and do for themselves or for marketing process. You have paid me as a client, I don't have business with you any more after making the delivery of the work.

I believe that when you have been paid for a job and that was delivered, you no longer have any right over such completed job because you have already taken your payment. There is no way you are going to expect to have your watermark or your initials on a work that you have received payment for.

I think this issue usually comes when the designers were not well paid for their job. So they get angry when they see how their work is being used professionally. My take is to not accept payment that you will regret later.

The only thing I request from my clients after I've delivered my job for them is for me to be referred to their friends and other people whom might be interested in the same services that I render. Also, I'd have them to write a review for the job that I've done for them.

It is only a very stupid person that is going to accept a payment for a job done and letter start feeling regrets on how the work is being used. When you take money for some thing, you no longer have any right over it.

I have no choice but to give out the full rights to any of the jobs I've worked on because I've need for money. The money is what pays for that right which I'm letting go because that's what's more important for me.

So it all comes down to the freelancer. If you know that the gig does not pay you then turn it down. But many go ahead with it and still want to have a day how their work is used.

If a work is outsourced to me and I deliver it and got paid according to the agreement, then I don't have a problem with them watermarking the work. Afterall, my part of the deal was honored, so no issues.

I've never seen any freelancer whom they paid for a job that comes back to lay claims to the ownership of the job. Wouldn't such a freelancer be seen as a mad person?

Well it is all based on the deal you had together in the first place. Seasoned graphics designers will inform their clients that if they want the full rights to the works they have to pay more.

I'm paid to give the full rights to my work. It's why I charge a good amount of money for them because I know it's not possible for me to come back to lay any claims to them again.

Ever since I started working online as a freelancer, I've never heard anyone talk about still having rights to the job they have already been paid for and delivered to the client.

This is the approach to all freelance work these days. You receive payment for your work you say goodbye to it.
