If it comes to contests, I believe that giving out design tools would be a fair price. It depends on who was sponsoring the contest and what and what is involved at the end of the day.

Balsamiq, Figma and Adobe XD are the tools that I prefer can be given out freely for a graphic contest.

Giving out some of these tools for free with a year subscription can be a good way to encourage those designers to keep doing what they enjoy doing.

Exactly my point. I believe that before the year runs out, they have made much money with the tools and can be able to subscribe on their own whenever the need arises.
