Does one need to go to college to learn graphic design?

I always say it that people are really sleeping on opportunities to learn a lot online. No you don’t need secular education to be good at something.
Most of the times, a lot of people usually procrastinate too much when it comes to learning something online but the ones that really know it is possible to do that don't take it for granted.

One can go to college and learn all about graphic design and still not know the beginning from the end. Another can start practicing through online tutorials and be an expert in designs.

Both are good if the opportunity comes but if there's no creativity, it will be hard to be an expert in it.

If they were able to learn from the beginning to the end, then they should have learned a lot because it shows that they were paying attention. That being said, I wouldn't say that going to graphics school is a must as the most important part is knowing what you do.

Yes, it's possible to learn a lot about graphics designing in school if someone takes their studies seriously. It's very unfortunate mosh people who can afford to pay for such tuition fee doesn't take studies serious.

I never went to any graphics design or art school because everything I learnt about graphics designing was mastered online. There are new resources for me to learn and upgrade my skills all the time.

I'm a university drop out. I wasn't able to finish because my parents couldn't meet up with paying my school fees. Now, I've been able to learn so much online more than I was able to learn in school. It's 100% possible to learn graphics designing outside university.
Going to university doesn't mean you will know what brought you there especially when one isn't attentive or have the zeal to follow what brought them, some people take those times to do unmeaning things. I love how you still went online to learn things that you can learn in school, your passion for growth is fire.

Yeah, I get it. If you don't have the tuition for school, focus on other places that you can learn. It's not a must to go to graphic school to learn how to design.

A formal degree can give you structure, feedback and networking opportunities, but it isn’t a prerequisite for success in graphic design. What’s essential is learning the fundamentals — typography, colour theory, composition and software skills — and then practising them on real projects. Many designers are self‑taught using books, online courses and community critiques. Employers and clients are usually more interested in your portfolio than your diploma, so focus on building a body of work that demonstrates your ability to solve problems visually and communicate ideas.

I don't think it's a must for someone to go to school before being good in graphics designing. If you're willing enough to learn anything online, getting the skill and knowledge is possible.

Skill Acquisition is very important, and learning graphics is one that is very necessary in order to become a better person. So, going to school is not the pathway to becoming a successful person in life.
I learnt it so early in life that skill acquisition is very important. Even if I'm in school, I will try to learn one skill or the other.

I went to college but I never used any of the knowledge I acquired there to boost my graphics design skills. Yes, college is very important but I don't think it have so much impact in being good at graphics designing.

The fact is that you are educated, if is not compulsory that you use your degrees in your skills. But how you know more than someone that does not have one.

The understanding is different and I feel that a learned person will always do much better than one who is not that learned when it comes to learning graphics although this is dependent on how passionate one is as well.

I've heard some people say that school is scam but I don't agree because there's so much you can learn from university. It can be helpful in graphics design skill acquisition.

It's not about being learned. There are some learned people that can do more than who is not learned. I will only say that it depends on the passion for the individual.

Even if you do not learn the skill itself in a secular school, the fact that you are educated will make you different from someone that is not.

You absolutely get the gist of what I'm talking about because whenever you are dealing with someone who went to school especially the university, you will see the difference when dealing with someone who did not.
