What kind graphics projects are beginner friendly? What was your experience?

Any graphics projects are beginner-friendly but the designs that I found so easy to implement is flyer.

Any beginner who mastered the way of designing a simple flyer is already a step ahead.

I am not a flyer expert. Can you tell me what makes it beginner friendly?

It's easy to understand and for a beginner, you need to avoid complicated texts.

A beginner can use bullets, images or short words to grab people's attention. There's no high risk in colours because a beginner starts from with the mild colours.

What fonts do you recommend? Is there any favourite font / colour combination that you usually use?

As a beginner, I started out with working on my personal logo. It was why I took to following Will Paterson on YouTube immediately I came across his work based on logo designs. It was so helpful for me.

The same. Most people these days start with logo design. It was simpler demands before. Now people want to either make a personal logo or want to try their hands on numerous requests for logos.

It was the designing of business cards that I started with. This project helped so much to teach me about layout, typography, and the importance of white space in graphics designing of a business card.
