Designers can choose between freelancing on their own and working contract jobs for designs. But I feel contract jobs are disadvantageous as you tend to be stranded once the contract is over.

Freelancing or contract role, which one do you think is better?

I think it's possible for you to do both of them at the same time in as much as you're on a contract job. You can still be able to take up some freelancing jobs that you can get on your own without having to compromise your contract.

This can be possible if you are not getting much jobs from either of them. But if you are choked with jobs it will be hard to juggle both roles together.

How many contract jobs are out there? I don't see so many of them. It's why working as a freelancer is better suited. If you get contract jobs eventually, it will be easy to adjust some personal jobs and take it on.

From my experience, I know that contract jobs pays higher but they don't usually come easily. This is why most people are into freelancing instead of waiting for contract jobs from companies.

It's very possible to work on contract jobs and also take some freelancing jobs if you have the time. There are some contract jobs that can give you time, I think using your free time to source other freelancing jobs make it sweeter.

The problem is that most of the contract jobs do not give free time for designers to pursue side projects and jobs. They will want to have you to themselves.
